Conveniently located right off of Interstate 95, approximately 40 miles south of our nation’s capital, Stafford County, currently has an estimated more than 160,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census. Stafford County has a long and rich history. Established in 1664, the County is most famous for being the location of George Washington’s childhood home at Ferry Farm. The area’s fisheries, tobacco plantations, and flour mills supplied goods to Great Britain, leading to the charter and establishment of the port town of Falmouth and Fredericksburg, located on the Rappahannock River. The Civil War also greatly impacted the area that is now Stafford County.
Currently, Stafford County is an incredibly diverse community with an endless list of places to explore, shop, and eat. You can find historic museums and memorials such as the National Museum of the Marine Corps and George Washington’s boyhood home, Ferry Farm.
